Teach your dog to not jump up

28 March 2023

If your dog, owned or borrowed, jumps up when they greet you, here’s a quick training trick from our friends at Cuffe Vets:

  • Some dogs are so excited to meet people that they will jump up to say hello.
  • When this happens, turn away and wait until they’re a calmer before returning their greeting.
  • Rewarding the jumping up behaviour with an equally excited greeting can encourage it and many owners try hard to train their dogs out of this habit.
