Naomi joined BorrowMyDoggy because she's a big dog lover, however her flat doesn't allow pooches. She has now looked after Otis and Spud every two weeks for the last four months and was so happy to meet such nice people, as well as nice dogs. Here’s their wagnificent story....
High paws! Tell us about your BorrowMyDoggy experience...
Once I’d signed up, I made sure my profile had lots of information on it and I added quite a few local dogs to my favourites. I sent 2 or 3 messages and within a week, I heard back from Nina. Nina lives a 5 minute walk away and owns a Pug and a French Bulldog, called Otis and Spud.
We both thought it would be a great idea to meet up, so we arranged our ‘Welcome Woof’ in the local dog friendly pub, which has a big garden, so I could come along and meet the dogs with my husband. We all got on really well, Nina is absolutely lovely. I didn’t realise that I’d meet such nice people as well as nice dogs. When I go round to her house to pick up the dogs, we always end up chatting for ages.
Why did you sign up to BorrowMyDoggy?
I signed up to BorrowMyDoggy because I miss having a dog in my life. Growing up, I always had dogs. Now I’m in London and like so many people, I can’t have a dog because of my accommodation and I miss having one so much. My sister told me about BorrowMyDoggy and when I signed up I was so excited to see that there were loads of dogs in in my area.
How are you getting on with your new furry pal?
I am totally happy. Otis and Spud are proper little characters. They know me now and jump around with excitement when I come round. It has just been so easy from the beginning. It’s been great over the summer as we are right beside Battersea Park and evening walks are so lovely there.
I’ve looked after Otis and Spud once every two weeks for around 3 or 4 months now. Nina signed up her dogs, not necessarily because she needs a lot of extra help, as she is often at home with the dogs, but to make someone else happy and get the odd night off. They’re such funny dogs with really big characters! We don’t have any sort of structured timetable. I’ll text Nina and she’ll let me know when is the best time for me to come round. She always does her best to accommodate me and she is super relaxed about it. I love walking them. My friends are so jealous and always ask to come out on walks with us. I love it.
