National Kitten Day

6 July 2026

This July 10th is National Kitten Day! #NationalKittenDay is here to remind us that like our canine companions, many kittens need loving homes. To celebrate, why not pop a can of kitten food in your supermarket food bank, donate to a local animal shelter or even consider fostering.

While we’re all about the pooches, we love all our furry friends. While not all of them get on, dogs and cats can absolutely co-exist, or even become pawsome buddies. Having a cat is no reason why you can’t sign up to meet a pup online!

Can I borrow a dog if I have a cat?

Of course! If your kitty friend is too nervous around dogs, you’re very welcome to just walk pooches; many of our members sign up for this wagtastic activity.

One of the great features on BorrowMyDoggy are the symbols on an owner’s profile. Including one that indicates whether the pup is good with cats; green for yes, grey for no. This is handy for walks, but even more important if you plan to bring a dog into your home.

Can Cats and Dogs Get on?

Yes, of course! They can form great relationships, ranging from indifference to loving rapports where they cuddle up together.

Creating a pawsome, peaceful household is very possible with the right techniques. It’s important to introduce cats and dogs in a careful, controlled fashion. Get both animals used to each other’s scent, create individual spaces and keep a physical barrier between them to start with. Controlled meetings and positive reinforcement can make a huge difference. Let your cat set the pace, but separate them if there’s any discord. It’s important they both feel secure.
